Keystone, Co has huge expansion plans for the future!

November 4th, 2008 lbaxter Posted in A-Basin, Breckenridge, Keystone Mountain, Keystone Real Estate, Keystone property, Snow, Summit County, Summit County Real Estate, Uncategorized No Comments »

The new gondola is scheduled to open on November 7, just around the corner. This gondola runs from the River Run base area and it is supposed to double the uphill capacity, which is quite impressive, since it seemed to get people up the mountain rather quickly before.

Some of the future plans for Keystone are adding a new lift from the Ski Tip area up to the east side of the mountain. There are currently cat-skiing operations in the Bergmann and Independence Bowls and this is going to be replaced with some new lifts. I’m not sure if that is a good thing, for the powder adventurist.

The Wayback chair is scheduled to be replaced and new trails are going to be formed on the front side, North Peak and the Outback.

Keystone is a great family friendly mountain as well as some extreme skiing in the outback areas. It is scheduled to open on November 7, weather permitting. We are expecting a snowstorm today!  The  Market snapshot will give you information on current market trends, current up to the date MLS listings in Summit County, including Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper, Dillon, Silverthorne and Frisco . Happy New Year - Snow, snow and more snow!

January 5th, 2008 admin Posted in Breckenridge, Copper Mtn. real estate, Frisco Real Estate, Snow, Uncategorized No Comments »

Happy New Year!  It is snowing and is supposed to continue to snow for the next several days.  It was quite busy up here in the mountains the past two weeks and adventurous!  We had record breaking temperatures, however, that did not prevent anyone from skiing or being out and about.

All of the hotels were booked and all of the condos were rented when on December 30Th, the winds began to pick up and the snow began to fall.  We were all skiing that day at Copper MT. and had heard that the road  (I-70) was closed.  So we hung around for a couple hours and headed out.  It took an hour to get to Frisco, which is normally a 5 minute drive.  The traffic that was heading to Silverthorne (2 miles) took another hour and a half.  Needless to say, at that point it was a complete white out and they closed I-70 and got everyone off the highway.

Several travelers ended up at the Silverthorne Rec Center, Middle School and various churches.  But several also ended up in their cars for the night.  We ended up with 5 people that were stranded and had a nice time.

The road did not open until 4pm New Year’s Eve and people headed down the road.

Now, the snow continues to fall and the skiing and snowshoeing and x-country trails are fabulous!  I think it will be a wonderful winter.  Wouldn’t it be nice to have a property to go to so you won’t be stranded on I-70?

The housing industry in Summit County is just as strong as ever.  It is a wonderful place to have fun!

During the holidays and just about every Saturday, Copper MT. has fireworks and a torchlight parade and a Snowboarding exhibition.  Breckenridge has a big festival coming up the Ullr Fest Jan 6-11 and it consists of a week-long

celebration of Ullr (a mythical Norse God of Snow) .  There will be a Main Street Parade, live entertainment and bar series, a Nordic and ice skating event as well.

Hope to see you on the snow!
